About Me

I’m Henry Malton, an entrepreneur and AI consultant focused on helping business leaders understand how technology can genuinely support their business, not through hype or complexity, but through practical, well thought out application.

I'm the co foundeer of Blue Onion, where we help organisations improve efficiency, decision making, and visibility by applying AI and automation in ways that make sense for how the business actually operates. My work is largely advisory and consultative, bridging the gap between leadership teams and emerging technology so AI becomes a tool, not a distraction.

My route into business and technology hasn’t been conventional. In 2018, I turned down university offers to launch a local online grocery delivery service designed to support regional suppliers. The business gained recognition across the North East, featuring on BBC Newcastle, Look North, and The Chronicle, and was nominated for the 2019 North East Young Executive of the Year Award. While the venture ultimately closed due to sustainability challenges, it provided invaluable lessons in building, operating, and winding down a business — lessons I still draw on today.

Since then, I’ve worked across a range of industries including B2B and B2C sales, marketing, recruitment, logistics, and property. For just over three years, I also worked as a taxi driver, which offered a very different but equally valuable perspective — spending long hours speaking with people from all walks of life, understanding real-world problems, and developing a strong sense of resilience, discipline, and perspective.

More recently, I moved into the property sector as a deal packager and project manager, helping investors navigate opportunities across the North East. Alongside this, I continued developing my technical understanding, achieving an ITOL Accredited Level 5 qualification in Property Investing in May 2024.

Since launching in June 2025, my full focus is on building Blue Onion and working closely with business owners and leadership teams who want a clear, sensible approach to AI, one that respects the realities of running a business and prioritises long-term value over quick wins.

I value hard work, personal development, and staying grounded while building ambitious things. I’m always learning, always refining my thinking, and committed to doing work that’s both useful and enjoyable.
